SACOM Has a New Home
Tuesday, November 18, 2008
The St. Albans Chesapeake and Ohio Modelers is proud to announce the purchase of a building to house an HO scale model railroad display. Using a grant from the state of West Virginia for part of the purchase price, SACOM has purchased the Fraternal Order of Police building, formerly the St. Albans Jr. High band room, in St. Albans.
The building is located at 901 10th Street, on the corner of Kanawha Terrace and 10th Street. It is a stand alone block and steel structure which features a 40 foot X 30 foot unobstructed room, an office and storage room.
The building has been neglected for a while so our currant projects all revolve around clean up, repair and updating the building. Soon we will be designing and building an HO scale model railroad display that will be used to help share the history of the C & O Railroad and it's successors in the St. Albans area.
Our goal is for the scale display in the new building to be part of a multi media railroad enthusiast destination which includes the new display and the St. Albans C & O depot museum.
Anyone interested in helping with any part of our program, or if you would like to join the St. Albans C & O Modelers, contact any member of the group or email jabutler(at)sa-com.org.

Once all the clean up and basic repairs are complete, we will be building an HO scale C & O display in this, our new home.
